Happiness and Pain: Cross-Cultural and Cross-Linguistic Perspectives

Both themes – “happiness” and “pain” – are at the forefront of current research and cross-disciplinary debates across a range of disciplines, including linguistics, anthropology, psychology, psychiatry, cultural and communication studies and others. They are also of central interest to practical areas such as nursing, counselling and palliative care.

This International Symposium brings together leading scholars from several diverse fields. Languages discussed will include English, French, Chinese, Japanese, Danish, Koromu (PNG) and Australian languages. The Symposium features presentations from scholars from the US, Denmark and Australia. In addition to presentations, there will be plenty of time for discussion.

You are all very welcome to participate in this unique and exciting event. Refreshments will be provided. Please let Professor Anna Wierzbicka know if you would like to attend for catering purposes.

There is no registration fee.
